A trained pilot, a TV actor and a fitness freak, Thakur Anoop Singh just won the gold medal in the fitness physique category at the World Bodybuilding and Physique Federation championships in Thailand.

Wasim Khan created history by winning the bodybuilding title in the International Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation event in Rome in June. He is now the only Indian to have won two back to back overall IBFF titles, having won the title in Slovenia last year too.

Arambam Boby won his 4th World Championship title at the 7th WBPF championships in Thailand by winning gold in the 80kg category. He had earlier won the Asian title at the 49th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique championships in Tashkent earlier this year. The Manipuri is one of the finest bodybuilders India has produced in recent years.

Winner of several body building competitions in India, Amit Chhetri - a constable of Uttarakhand Police - brought laurels to the country by winning a gold in the Fairfax World Police and Fire Games 2015 in Virginia. Chhetri won a gold in the 100-kg category in the games, where 42,000 players from 90 countries participated.

Varinder Singh Ghuman, one of the most popular bodybuilder on the list, has also ventured into cinema. With his gigantic physique, Ghuman has won Mr India in 2009 and was awarded 2nd place in Mr Asia. Just like Hira Lal, he is also known for being a pure vegetarian body builder. He is also the only Indian bodybuilder to be roped in by Arnold Schwarzenegger for promoting his health products in Asia. He played a part in Bollywood movie - Roar - Tigers of the Sundarbans.

6. Neeraj Kumar
Neeraj Kumar

Neeraj Kumar is one of the young and upcoming bodybuilders of India. He was named Mr India in his weight category in 2013 and also won a bronze medal in Mr World championship in the same year.

7. Murali Kumar

Murali Kumar

Murali Kumar is a software engineer from Kottayam, Kerala and serves in the Indian Navy. He was ranked as India's No 1 bodybuilder in 2013 for his achievements. He started bodybuilding at a late age of 25 only after taking up gymming post a leg injury. He first worked on strengthening his legs but as time passed, he took up building his core. In 2013 and 2014, he claimed Mr India title and was awarded Mr Asia in 2013.

Sangram Chaugule

Sangram Chaugule is one of the best bodybuilders in India today. A Pune based electrical engineer Sangram brought numerous titles for the country, including that of Mr Universe (85 kg category) in the 2012 World Bodybuilding Championship, Bangkok. His diet includes chicken (1 pound), fish (2 pounds), boiled veggies and milk, everyday to maintain his body.

Rajendran Mani is one of the most successful bodybuilders from India with 8 Mr India and Champion of Champions titles. He started his pro career after working with the Indian Air Force for 15 years.

10. Suhas Khamkar

Suhas Khamkar

Hailing from a family of bodybuilders, Suhas Khamkar has brought a lot of laurels to India. He has bagged the Mr India title a whopping 9 times, Mr Maharashtra 7 times, and Mr Asia 2010 and Mr Olympia Amateur. He also is the first Indian to win the Mr Asia title in 2010.

Delhi guy Ankur Sharma is one of the best young bodybuilding talent of India. His most iconic wins apart from a number of domestic titles include Gold in the 2013 WBPF World Championship, Mr. India 2012, and second place in Mr. India competition, 2013.

12. Hira Lal

Hira Lal

Hira Lal is a pure vegetarian bodybuilder and has won the Mr World gold medal in 2011 in the 65kg category. He is a cop with the Punjab police in Kapurthala.

13. Manohar Aich

Manohar Aich

Manohar Aich, 103 years old, a legend in his own right - won the Mr Universe title as early as 1952, making India noticeable on the world map. He's fondly known as the 'Pocket Hercules', owing to his height that measures 4 feet 11 inches. Mr Aich began his bodybuilding career early on when not many gyms and fitness centers were available. Taking a cue from his own strength and will power, Mr Aich began body and weight training exercises, such as push-ups, pull-ups, sit ups, and leg raises, that lasted several reps.
