Dhoni to retire after 2nd ODI v/s Sri Lanka

A ceremonious tribute will be paid to Dhoni at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, who is set to retire after the game.

The Mohali police have been benefiting from Dhoni’s services ever since he was three-years-old, with the labrador assisting them in many security operations.

Mohali: India are currently playing the series decider of the 3-match Test series against Sri Lanka in New Delhi. Following this, the hosts will shift the action to a three-match ODI series, which will be the final fifty-over series for Virat Kohli’s men during the year.

However, after the second ODI, which will be held at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on 13th December, a ceremonious tribute will be paid to Dhoni, who is set to retire after the game. Mind you, this is not former India skipper MS Dhoni we are talking about, whose cricket future has become a hot topic of discussion.

Two other dogs, John and Preeti will also retire along with Dhoni and are set to be given for adoption to people interested in looking after them.The character here referred is Dhoni, a sniffer dog who has been working with Mohali police for 10 years, who is set to retire following the second match of the India-Sri Lanka ODI series, as reported by The Indian Express. When India clashed with Pakistan during the 2011 World Cup match at Mohali, Dhoni was highly instrumental in keeping tight security.

"Dhoni used to assist us in checking at PCA stadium during the international matches. During the world cup semifinal in 2011 between India and Pakistan, when the Prime Ministers of both the countries came to the city, Dhoni was working with us," said Amrik Singh, the in-charge of the dog squad.

"He likes to sleep six to seven hours a day. He sleeps in the daytime. He is a specialist in sniffing explosives. He is the quickest of the dogs we have when it comes to do any search operations. We are going to miss him. He has been a great asset for us," he added.
